my 2005 malibu brake lights started staying on when the ignition is on after having the rear brakes changed

 

hey i have a 07 maxx and mine did the same thing when i turned the car on the brake lights would come on. the problem was the sensor for the brakes that ataches to your break peddle failed i replaced it and it started working normal again. not shure it it helps as i didnt change my brakes near the time that happened but hope i helped and good luck

 

Had similar problem on my 06, opening the fuse panel under passenger side of stereo area and removing all the connections and resetting them worked.
