Changed Blend Door - didn't fix, now what? :)
Hi,
Please help
I'm trying to fix the car myself, finances are pushing me to do this. LOL
My car originally (and still is) blowing cold air on the passenger side (including half the center vents) and not on the left side (and other half of the center vent). So, it was suggested by many I know, to replace the Blend Door Actuator behind the glove box. I did that and now my dash and foot fans are reversed. I set it on dash and it blows feet and vice versa. And, it didn't fix the A/C.
Do you have any other suggestions on what to try next? I was so hoping that Blend Door Actuator would do the trick.
Thank you so much
Cindy

Sounds like you didn't change the blend door actuator but the vent actuator. The blend door actuator only controls the hot/cold air and has nothing to do with which vent is used. Also sounds like it was set incorrectly to work the opposite. There is more than 1 actuator under there and you have to make sure sure you are working on the correct one.
All I did was put the new one in (behind the glove box) and it started acting up there. That is one they told me to replace, I had the picture and instructions to do that with. I didn't remove the wrong one. I removed the one they said
Is that something I could correct by setting it to the right setting? I got the part new and installed it and didn't change anything. When I went to by the blend door actuator they gave me one that didn't look like the one I was told to replace. I was looking under the knee plate and I can see the actuator up there, close to the center (radio) and that is one I can find on O'Reily Auto parts or Auto Zone. They told me the one to replace was behind the glove box. So now I hear that is the wrong one and the one I should replace is on the other side, up under the steering column, to the right of it? 52495633 is that part number on it, and is it the blend actuator? Or Climate Control?
