Default Let's try this again no start no crank funky stuff going on.

First off thank you to any and every suggestions cause I need help I'm stumped. I've got a 2014 Chevy malibu ruffly 162,000 miles on the ticker. Insert the key turn it all the way to on but don't start everything looks normal all lights and whistles work just fine, then try and start it everything goes out except the lights around the climate control and the light in the over head area for the dome lights and the sun roof. And nothing no click no starter stutter nothing. Now for some time like a couple of days there was the lock 🔐 symbol that stayed illuminated, so I tried all of the 10 min reset combinations known to utube and nothing but the light did eventually go away on its own. Oh ya I forgot to mention this all started right after replacing the battery. I replaced the battery with an OEM battery according to Chevy battery replacement procedure. Funky stuff: the key fob no longer controls all four doors only driver, no more security system does not turn on. Remember those lights I mentioned that stay on when trying to start well if key is in on position and you push the dome light button just those lights in the over head area go out and the lights around the climate control go out the exact opposite of when you try and start the vehicle. And last but not least the key gets hot with repeated start attempts. But I'm thinking that that is probably caused by that little solenoid in the steering column. Any ideas?

when a battery slowly dies....modules shut down improperly. dtc have set and you are in a theft deterrent lock out.
you have theft deterrent codes. clear the codes out with a scan tool and try it.
theft codes are body codes so a cheap code reader won't access body codes. you need a full function scan tool.

clear the codes...try it and if it doesn't crank....post the codes.

Tech2I went and bought a new scanner that does what you mentioned pulled all the codes there were a total of 21 codes, But here are the codes I pulled from the body module B1517-5A, B151C-42, B1529-03, B3006-01, B3006-02, N3006-04, B316B-00, B3618-00, C0277-06, C0890-03, B101E-43, B1325-03, U0121-00, U151B-00, U1548-00, U154A-00 I cleared them and 3 of them will not go away and I still have the same issue no crank no start. Nothing changed at all except for now the fine lights work and I get 6 extra bongs out of the bell after inserting the key . In other words it goes through it's regular cycle of chimes when inserting key then immediately after I get 6 bongs. The three codes from the BCM That will not clear are B1517-5A, U0121-00, and U151B-00 oh ya and just in case P0449, P16CF, P16DO are the regular OBD2 codes these will not clear either. I ran a battery test and it said please completely charge battery then attempt again. I hope that helps and I truly appreciate your help I need to get this car running before they 72 hour tow it. I really don't want to have to pay to get it towed and stored.

some of this codes are from low battery voltage. fully charge the new battery. if your charger is 6 amp or less....this may take 8 hours or more. I have a smart c harger so i leave mine on overnight. if yours doesn't have an auto mode....monitor it so the battery doesn't get hot.

once the battery is fully charged clear dtc and try again.

nope....just key off. disconnect battery. problems start when the battery slowly dies and modules lose communication
