P0011 - timing done
2013 Malibu Eco 2.4 LUK
P0011 code and slight stumble if I blip the throttle at idle, sometimes stalls.
Engine was partially rebuilt - new pistons, rod bearings, valves lapped, balance and timing chain sets.
PO had installed a new timing chain set, vvts, and phasers. Amazon junk from what I gather as the part numbers on the phasers were different and neither pulled up any hits on Google.
Getting p0011 for intake camshaft being advanced. Ive searched through forums and online and it comes down to either the timing chain, timing is off, VVT solenoid, or cam phaser/actuator.
VVTs previous and current Ohmed out good. Swapped the new ones that were in it out for used ones I had. Reset the timing twice. Swapped in new chain and tensioner. Swapped in used phasers (gm same part number). Ex cam notch at 7 o'clock, IN cam notch at 5 o clock. Or whatever the manual says for newer 2.4s. Triple checked everything lines up.
First time driving after engine rebuild with the timing set that came with it I'd get surging after driving on hwy for about 10min. Swapped in used intake VVT, something. Swapped in used phaser same thing. Put in new chains and tensioners, swapped ex phaser for used. Same stumble if I blip the throttle. Still p0011. Didn't drive on hwy as long but no surging, started to once for about a second then didn't do it again.
Also changed oil and filter before this last test drive.
