Service: Theft Deterrent System
My car keeps saying Service: Theft Deterrent System
2018 Chevy Malibu premier
yesterday my battery on my key fob died and I replaced it. When I replaced it my car would lock unlock but it wouldn’t start. Nothing happened when I pressed the start button. I put the fob in the slot within my center console and it was saying something about new key
Not sure what to do I disconnected the battery and reconnected it to reset the system
That did not work
I read somewhere that it was stuck in program mode
so I held down the start button for 10 seconds which did the trick
but then the car gave me the previously mentioned warning
when I turn my car off for an extended period of time to turn it on I have to hold it down for 10 seconds everything time.
I think I might have tripped the anti theft deterrent system but I honestly have no clue
can someone help me please

Similar issue here 2019 Malibu North Edition. Cant open car with both fobs. Have to use key, alarm goes off everytime I have to enter car etc. Took to dealer around noon today, they don't have time to check, requires booking. Ended up getting oil changed. They only have time for filter replacements etc that is not an emergency.
Please pass me if there's a fix for this.
