I am looking for some help. A friend of mine has a '99 Malibu. He is telling me that the "power steering has rusted off the frame". I haven't seen it yet he lives 2 hours away and before I load up and drive over there to help him out I wanted to get some knowledge about it 1st. From what was explained to me, he can't drive it because it wont steer. He says the box that is at the end of the steering colum has rusted away from the frame.

I am trying to find some diagrams to look at so I can see what is going on and try to devise a fix for this problem.

Also has enyone else incountered anything like this. I know it is a pretty bad discription of the problem but anything along these lines?
