00 Monte problems
Well i have a 2000 monte carlo ss and i am 16 and know a little about cars but here is the deal with it, for the past week or two i would come back from riding around or would come from a friends house so i go home and kill the engine and get out 20 minutes later come back outside to start the car and it wont start, and its not the battery or starter or alternator, because i went to listen when i turned the key on and the fuel pump wasnt working because i didnt hear it make that sound when u usually turn the car key so for mayb 2 days it wouldnt start then the next day i go and try and start it and it starts so im like wtf??... and then i go around the block to just see if anything happens and then i get home and turn the car off and then try to turn it right back on but same problem dont hear the fuel pump working , but i am not sure if its my fuel pump or what so any help would be greatly aprreciated guys!!! thanx!!
I had the same problem, it is your fuel pump relay. The mechanics couldn't figure it out! My monte was the back of a tow truck more than on the road for about 3 months. Go under your hood locate the fuse box (passenger side back wall). Pull out the relay switch for fuel pump, carefully twist the legs so that they make a better connection (90 degrees) when you shove it back into slot. I did this over a year ago havent had a problem since!
Don't listen to the idiot above.
What works for one car doesn't work for another car. And bending terminals 90 degrees doesn't sound like a smart thing to do to terminals. Actually I don't even see how it would go back into the sockets if the terminals were bent 90 degrees but whatever.
It could be the relay but 9 times out of 10 it's the pump that fails over the relay. Their have been some with poor connections at the fuel tank where it connects to the fuel pump but it's not really common. The fuel pumps most of the time slowly die off but either not starting the first couple times, dieing driving down the road, etc.

I'm having the same problem with my 02 SS. If you take it back to the dealer and if they tell you that it's your crank sensor don't listen to them because that most likely won't be the problem but that's like the only thing they'll think of. They charged me $350 to replace sensor last week and my car is still not starting at times.
if he twisted he relayposts a bit i could see it fixing a conection issue but the better way is to close up the loose terminals !!!!!!!
Sometimes when people pull relays out and put them back in they are a bit rough and the terminals in the block get spred out a bit and you end up with an intermittent electrical issue

I duno about closing a terminal..... If u have loose terminals the only fix is to replace that terminal. The first thing u need to do is confirm the lack of fuel pressure. U can do this by installing a fuel pressure guage on the fuel rail. If u do not have such a tool then your best bet is to take it to a dealer.
