Welcome to the forum. The cause is usually the intake manifold gaskets in that era V6 engines. Do a web search for "TSB 03-06-01-016."

Red face GM's recall for faulty gaskets

Thank you EinST for the direction.
im sure theres no way they would fix my car, being 10 yrs. old and a second owner, would they?
question#2 is: if doing one gasket anyway wouldn't it be smart to do both upper and lower intakes while in there?
not a mechanic so this might be a stupid question, sorry.

For free? No. TSBs contain information for technicians. Whether or not you pay for the work done by them depends on your warranty status. When you replace the lower intake manifold gaskets, it's assumed that the upper gasket is replaced along the way. If you decline, they'll note that in the repair order to cover their ***.
