my name is todd, thanx for being here! have an '01 monte carlo ss with 44k on it.
recently developed a coolant leak.im not a mechanic but i got a coolant pressure tester and hooked it up and saw a couple leaks.red fluid around valve cover next to thermostat.around water pump and then it was actually dripping onto ground from somewhere close to firewall on drivers side, coolant i guess.
iv'e had this car a year before that it was garaged for "awhile".
thank you for any help at all !!!

GM's recall for faulty gaskets
Thank you EinST for the direction.
im sure theres no way they would fix my car, being 10 yrs. old and a second owner, would they?
question#2 is: if doing one gasket anyway wouldn't it be smart to do both upper and lower intakes while in there?
not a mechanic so this might be a stupid question, sorry.

For free? No. TSBs contain information for technicians. Whether or not you pay for the work done by them depends on your warranty status. When you replace the lower intake manifold gaskets, it's assumed that the upper gasket is replaced along the way. If you decline, they'll note that in the repair order to cover their ***.
