Default 2003 Monte Carlo not starting after a quick stop

The Fuel pump on my 2003 Monte Carlo seems to be going out?

When the fuel gets below a 1/4 tank and you turn it off and then try to start it in a couple of minutes all it does is crank, If you let it set for 20 minutes of so, then it starts right up!

Sounds like part of the fuel pump is not <!--fonto:Times New Roman--><!--/fonto--><!--sizeo:3--><!--/sizeo-->Submerged and get hot while running?

Any ideas?<!--sizec--><!--/sizec--><!--fontc-->

i know this is an old post but it does sound like a fuel pump or the fuel pressure regulator.
you can get to the fuel pump without dropping the tank. under the carpet in the trunk there is a plate with two screws in it. take the plate off and you'll be able to get to the fuel pump. the fuel pressure regulator (on a 3400) is towards the front of the engine, drivers side on the end of the fuel rail.

which engine do you have?

Thank you for the response!

I have the 3400 engine! Which would you change out first?

It seems to me that it is the fuel pump because it only happens when the fuel gauge is around the 1/4 tank area?

Again thank you for the info!

i would do the fuel pressure regulator first. its cheaper and easier than the fuel pump. i think i payed like $28 for the FPR. its kinda in a tight spot on the 3400 but it can be done without removing anything else.
