Have a similar problem with a '97. had it to three mechanics, and they couldn't make it stall, one used it all day to run errands, when we got it back it ran fine, put 3/4 of a tank of gas in and then the next day after driving about 30 minutes, shut off at a light. after a few tries, it started up again, went about 4 blocks and shut off again. Its nerve wracking.

We have owned several Lumina sedans . Our last one was a 96 model .

It developed issues if filled too full . Eventually dropped the tank put a fuel pump in . Was OK if you stuck the gas nozzle in and let it shut off by itself & left it at that .

God bless
