97 Lumina: Louder exhaust sound?

97 Lumina: Louder exhaust sound?
I have already gotten an aftermarket Thrush Turbo in place of the factory, but doesn't quite please me with the sound. In the cab, I hear more mechanical noise from the engine compartment than from the muffler. Is there any free/cheap way to increase the sound of the muffler, or decrease the sound from the engine compartment?
