Default 99 Lumina no crank/no start

Mine is the 3100. Everything comes on electronically. I can hear the fuel pump come on but when I turn the key to start I get nothing. Not a click, nothing. I turn it off and so long as I'm patient enough to sit for 7 or more minutes then the next time I go to start it fires up without issue. This started out of the blue. Nothing has been added or taken off. Just one day I came out, got in and no crank. It seems to be happening more frequently the longer this goes on so I want to try and correct it before one day it doesn't start at all please any advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Maybe starter is dying. Next time it hapens, have someone hold key in start position while you gently tap starter with a hammer - if it starts then time for a new starter motor.
How many miles on car and has starter been changed in the past?

Idk the starter seems fine when it actually cranks over. It doesn't seem slow or like it's having trouble. It is just whenever I first try to start it I get nothing I have to turn the key back off and just sit for like 5 minutes or more, then it starts up without issue. It's got 214,xxx miles and as far as I know the starter hasn't been changed. I've only had it maybe 6 months. It did sit for about 2 years before I got it without being started or anything. Butji put a battery in it and fired it up. It smoked and knocked for a second and went to running like normal and has up until this started.
