Default help with car for a new person!

hey all! im looking into getting into cars and working on them myself. Would like advice on a good car to start with that wouldn't be too expensive and relatively easy to work on. Id like something that looks nice and i would be able to do a decent amount of work on and of course make it fast haha. Thanks for any advice and hope to chat with you all in the forums!

Close to strangest post ever.

How much $cash$ do you have? Things can get expensive quick. Jacks/jack stands/wrenches/sockets/etc..

Generally - that car to work on is the one you currently own/drive.

That’s actually pretty close to my budget as well. I’d like to stay under $8k for something reliable and newer. I’m not as focused on tuning or mods like you, but I totally agree that buying the right car from the start is key.

I get what you’re saying – tools and extra costs really add up, and you’re right that working on the car you already own makes sense for learning. In my case though, I’m looking to upgrade from my current car, so I want to make sure the next one doesn’t come with hidden problems.

Hi there! A Miata or Civic would be my top pick – simple, reliable, and great to learn on. Just make sure you run the VIN through a site like vinspectorai.com so you catch any recalls or hidden problems.
