New to forum but not GM
Hi,
I just bought a 1989 Chev, Caprice Classic, 305. Body good for a car in Ontario, Canada. Under carriage solid, one small hole in fender, already grinded off all the surface rust and repaired hole to prevent advance of rust through the winter.
The car had a lot of hesitation so I changed a few things, coolant temp sensor, fuel filter and the fixer, MAP sensor, got it at my local salvage yard for $30.
It was floaty, floatier than normal on the highway but an alignment fixed most of that.
I know I need some rear suspension work and will be asking for some help with that in the coming days to finish the highway handling issues.
Car has 110,000 MILES, first owner owned it for 22 years and only averaged about 4500/year.
I'd been away from GM for the last couple of cars but I'm glad to be back.
This car reminds me of my best and favorite car that I ever owned, a 1983 Olds, 98, Regency with a 307 that I owned for about 9 or 10 years.
The fact that I'm not afraid to do work on this car myself also attracted me to it.
Hows that for a long first post, glad to be part of the forum.
