Hi, ....I could use some help.... Note that I have always owned chevys ... and lately my son and I found a 1976 Nova SS.... It was in one of my friends (Larry) barns... It was not in bad shape so my son and I bought it for a song and we are currently taking it completely apart... The car belonged to Larrys son and had been in the barn for about 9 years. All the paint appears to be origonal along with the SS. Larry was unable to tell me what the motor should be or if the motor was origonal, He thought it may be a 400. I sent an e-mail to chevy with the motor and vin information / questions but it went unanswered.. Well perhaps someone here can help us.... I believe there is a book somewhere but do not know where to locate it. We have visited the local public library with not much luck. We would like to know the motor size etc.... The VIN number on the car is 1X2706W150023. The Motor block code / larger numbers and letters are T0501CSA & the smaller letters and numbers under these is 13Y157822. Thanks for any help you can offer....

Well it's not the original motor because the last 6 of the block numbers and the last 6 of the vin don't match.

I tried looking it up the block numbers but none of them match. Maybe it's a motor out of another vehicle or something.
