I recently purchased a 1968 Chevy Bel Air. It did not come factory with a radio. The guy I bought it from was in the process of installing speakers and wiring for a radio but did not get it finished before selling the car. How do I remove the cover over the radio spot to be able to finish installing a radio into the dash? Does the whole dash have to be removed first? I'm afraid to try popping it off because I don't want to damage anything if it can't be removed that way. I can get a thin enough tool in the top part but haven't pulled too hard yet in case it would damage something.

It's possible you might have to cut out the panel. Look behind the dash at that point. Since it didn't have a factory radio.
