My friends and i are traveling out of a 1999 chevy shortbus. We are not car enthusiasts so we dont know anything other than the basics on cars. While traveling through california we have blown an engine and are having a hard time finding a replacement. i was hoping to get all available engine models that would work. i was under the impression that it was similar to a chevy suburban van but again, i am kind of clueless.

some things i do know we are looking for...

5.7 L V8

hoses for power steering, transmission cooler, and oil filter. (being that the ones on our current engine are unusable, and if we find the right engine from a suburban, we'd still need these parts to make it work)

it is at a shop in barstow, and we are located in santa clarita at a friends apartment while we wait for more info. we are on a tight budget and would appreciate any help we can get.

 

we have called a salvage yard and they seem to think a vortec 5.7 v8 would work.

and after more research could our bus be a chevy express and not a suburban?

this is pretty much a replica of our bus, except ours has 5 windows on the back, not that that would have anything to do with the motor.

again we are stranded until we can find an engine that would work. i appreciate anyones time an knowledge in helping us.
