How difficult is a 305 to 350 swap in a 1993 k1500?
I bought a 1993 k1500 a while back. The guy I bought it from had just recently bought it himself. When he bought it, he was told it had a 350 in it but the transmission was bad. He bought it for $900, replaced the transmission, and sold it to me. It runs pretty good, and I actually bought it because I love the amount of torque this thing has (I had driven it a few times before I even thought of buying it). However, neither me nor the previous owner (who I know personally) ever verified that it was actually a 350 and not a 305. It's been too snowy lately for me to check the casting on the block by the transmission. I'm planning for the worst case so that I'm prepared ahead of time for a swap if it needs it. I plan on finishing this truck back to "like new" and I'd like it to have a 350.
Anyway, so I know that I'll need an entire 350 (especially the knock sensor, fuel injectors, and computer). I'll most likely just find a pickup with a factory 350 in it and pull the whole engine and computer and put it all in my truck. I'm wondering about one thing though. Will I have to do any rewiring or will I have to pull the wiring harness out of the donor truck or can the 305 wiring harness be used (assuming I have a 305) with a 350 and matching computer?
Also, and forgive me if this is a stupid question, but is the transmission control unit separate from the engine's? I know in some vehicles they're combined.
Thanks ahead of time.

Wiring harness is all the same, just swap motor, computer, and injectors.
'93 was the transition year for GM and the 4L60 to 4L60E, but if it is controlled by the computer it will be the same one as the engine.
Good luck.
