Tahoe starts fine after sitting, difficult after that
This has been going on for the past few months. If I leave my 2000 Tahoe Z71 sitting, say, overnight (or any period of about 6-8 hours) it usually starts up just fine. But, if I just run into the grocery store and try to crank it about an hour later, it takes awhile for enough gas to get in it to start; it eventually does but sometimes will take 6-8 seconds to crank.
I replaced the fuel pump just under 2 years ago and thought it could be the injectors, have tried multiple cleaners that have not remedied the problem. Is it something else in the fuel system? Or something else completely?
Thanks in advance.

did you replace the fuel pump relay at the same time you did the pump?
did you replace the entire sending unit or just the pump?

The fuel pump module is often the cause, especially with people running tanks low all the time and the pumps overheating. But the fuel pressure regulator can be the problem too!
Often when they go bad, they will leak down after you shut the truck. When the truck is hot, it will be similar to "vapor lock". The initial prime cycle cannot compress all that hot air, so it needs to purge out. Colder air is less dense, so the prime cycle can purge that out much faster.
This can be verified with a fuel pressure test. I would recommend this be done by a qualified repair shop as a hot engine and fuel can be a dangerous mix.
Even if you are going to try this without performing the pressure test, it is a fairly reasonably priced part to try.
