idle problems
im working on a 89 celebrity i belive its the 2.6 v6(it`s my sisters car)its having a problem with the idle. i was told to pull off the negative battery cable to reset the system. i did that and it ran fine for a few minutes, then it went back to not idleing. any ideas? thanks rob
check over the spark plug wires for cracks or burns, if none, then pull the spark plugs. carefull when removing the wires, if the havent been removed in a while the metal clip inside the wire could pull out of the boot before removing each wire twist it with needle nose pliers
Most of the time you have to clean out the throttle plate in the throttle body from carbon, then you have to use a tech 1 scan tool and do an idle air Contreal re-learn to get it to idle properly, if not you can disconnect the battery truck but then start the car and put it in gear and let it idle there for about a minute, should fix it.
