'01 S10 sat for 3 weeks & now cranks but no start
OK, So my Dad went away for 3 weeks and when he got back his truck wouldn't start. I put a fuel pressure gauge on it and got about 60 psi. Plugged a noid light into the connector for the injectors and it lights up when the engine is cranked, no problem there. Pulled a spark plug, held it to ground while cranking and I've got a nice fat, bluish white spark. I don't get it. Spark + fuel = fire, right? Any suggestions? I'm stumped.
Also, isn't there a way to show check engine light codes in the instrument cluster by turning the ignition on and doing something else? Would the computer set a code during a no start condition or doesn't it have to be running to store a fault code?

Nope. You need to use a scan tool to pull the codes on OBD2 and 3.
Its possible that your ignition timing is off or your engine timing is off.
Have you checked all your fuel pump/starter/PCM-related fuses?

This thread sounds very much like my problem. 1999 S-10 V-6, 2wd, only 34k miles, orignal owner. Has been running great and well cared for, etc. No problems before. Went on vacation for week but now it won't start. Cranks great but no start. When we stop cranking it 'shutters' slightly - and smells like gas. Checked coil wire and it puts out good spark (didn't check plug yet tho). Checked all fuses/relays and swapped them all out etc. and all seem fine. When turn key on all gauges light up and we can hear pump in tank come on. Has 1/2 tank gas. So, like the guy above - spark + gas - what now? Any suggestions? (Would call AAA but let it lapse since I've been travelling a lot and truck not used much.)
