Question 99 Suburban sat now has issues

hi everyone. im new to this site. i have a 99 burb lt 5.7 4wd. it sat for a good 2 years without being used. now its back on the road, in great shape in and out. always maintained. but im having a few little issues. my drivers window sometimes goes up and down no problem, fast and smooth like other windows. but sometimes it doesnt work at all. im guess its a connection issue somewhere or a dead spot in the motor. i tested power from the switch and they all have power. i also noticed now my drivers passenger window dont work no more. but im more concerned about the drivers one. also sometimes when i start up i get a knock in the motor as if it was low on oil.. i dont always get this. and it goes away after the truck has been running from anywhere of 10 secs to 3 mins. but doesnt always do that. im guessing something is sludge up somewhere. any advise would be great. got oil change and still has this issue. i also had one issue today. after truck been running fine no proplems mechanically. i went to drive and it studdered. i let go of gas. then pressed gas again and no problem. maybe a clogged fuel filter? any suggestions. thank you

After sitting for that long of a period a full tune up should be doen to the vehicle to include coolant and oil flush. The window motors are a common problem. Mostly doo to the desighn after several years the motors start to wear out and the entire regulator assembly has to be replaced.

ok.. thats what i was thinking. im gonna change both drivers side. even thou the drivers window works and sometimes it dont. then if truck sits over night. works again for a few days no problem. and it goes up and down fast without a problem. but to be safe im gonna order new ones. i dont know if it is stock thou. but i have 3 s-video cables run in the truck. one to a box on ceiling in 3rd row where a small 7in tv was. and 2 on the ceiling handles to get in and out of truck for 2nd row. i dont know where they are run to. im guessing that was installed after market from previous owner. thanks again for fast reply.

Those were definatly an after market part. Also when you check the drivers window look at the wiring exspecial were it goes from the door to the body and see if there is any visable wear on the wires.

BigRed: Welcome to the forum.

The knocking on start-up is most likely a lifter(s) that are leaking down and leaving some clearance in the valve train until the oil pressure pumps them back up. Usually noticeably worse in cold weather as the oil is thicker and takes longer to pump them back up.

I'd check the fuel pressure.

The intermittent driver door window is probably a connector problem or a broken wire in the door/body interface conduit. If so, then check the psgr side for the same thing.

Let us know how it works out.

ok.. finally got the door panel off. got power for up and down on drivers door.. tapped the motor and it works.. so its a dead spot in the motor for the window. new motor will be ordered once i have the funds. as for back door. im just gonna replace motor as well. all wires are in great shape. connectors are clean and tight. i dont have tester for fuel pressure. im gonna save up and prob change the fuel filter and pump soon. as winter is comming and dont wanna get stuck with my kids in the truck. going the safe route. i put fuel injector cleaner in.. once tank is done im gonan change filter and see if it happens again. i do have a code for one of my cats on bank 2. those are gonna be ordered soon as well. that code came up when i first got the hesitation. thou it only happened 2 times for about 2 secs. either way a 99 burb with 120k miles that sat for 2 years is gonna need new cats. the previous owner was very good to the truck. everything on it was maintained as is should be. from oil to brakes and tires etc. ill have to get some pics on here. its really really clean for its year. and only a minor tear on drivers seat. rest of interior is excellent. and since i just bought the truck a month ago for only $2100 i dont mind putting money into it.

thanks. the plane has guns and missles. and radar and radio.. with other pilots talking etc. and when u turn the wheel is makes the engine sounds louder like its turning.. pretty cool battery powered ride on. never seen it and what i saw it online had to buy it. even the corvette has working headlights and blinkers and sounds.. and a digital fm radio. i dont remeber being a kid and having such cool toys.
