I have a 1988 4.3L v6 2wd auto s10. Latrly the transmission id acting weird. when i shift out of park it slams into gear with a loud clunk sound. When im driving i hear grinding noise below me. Does this mean the trans is going or something with the driveshaft isnt workingproperly?

 

i have the 4wd and it does that same pop into gear thing out of park. theres no grinding but im feeling it kick into 3rd waaayyy too early adn it alost kills my engine everytime. these transmission have pressured hoses that help in switching into gears so there might be a leak, so check all of the lines around the tranny and see if swapping to a fluid specifically made for GM which could help alot. dropping the pan is the hardest part because it doesnt want to come out 100% but will still work. good luck and happy wrenching!!
