Default 1991 4.3 Piston Ring End Gap??

Hey Everybody, I am putting together my rebuilt chevy 4.3 v6 and was wondering about my piston ring end gap. I measured out what i have and the gap is about .014 and everything that i find says that .016 is about right. Will the .014 gap work? How much will the rings expand due to the heat? Thanks

You will can probably call a machine shop and they will be able to tell you the end gap specs. All three rings have different gaps. A Haynes book will tell you I believe in section 3 at the begining. For 94 to 2004
Top Ring is .010 to .020 Mid ring is .010 to .025 Oil Ring through 1998 is .015 to .055 all measurements are inches. Not sure if the 91 is same but you seem to have a pretty good cushon for each ring. I would buy a Haynes or a Chiltons Repair Manual. Which has helped me alot.
