Just found out my EGR valve is bad. Prices are from 141.00 (checker) to 179.00 (NAPA). My question is can you just clean the valve and reinstall it?

 

Most of the time when the valve goes bad.. the valve mechanism inside is broke, and theres nothing you can do but to buy a new one. Did you have the codes read, or did you take it off and check it?

 

make sure they sin't a piece of carbon stuck holding one of the vales open. I have seen that happen alot, you must remove the valve to check for this condition, and be carful not to ruin the gasket when pulling it off....
