Default 98 blazer fuel pump shop cost?

from what i have found having a shop replace an in tank fuel pump on a 98 blazer should be around 400 dollars. why would my favorite shop quote me 800 bucks? also, looking at parts, some have big tower looking thing for around 200 and others say they are same thing but only have a few parts showing and are around 100 bucks and they look like a wire and a coil thing.

thx
phil

The shop with the lower price is probably using cheap parts. Anything other that a ACDelco or Delphi pump will most likely fail prematurely. The $800.00 estimate sound about right.

Used tank? Why? If it is for the pump just remember it is the same age as yours. How long will it last? If it is for the tank then no problem.

the whole sale price of the AC Delco one is about $260 (02 Suburban) if I recall but that is IF you could get it at cost... most likely it will be around $400
replacing it is not hard its self its dealing with a half full or more tank under the vehicle....

your right about the tank, it was just a thought lol. i replaced the filter about 6 months ago when it stoped running that time. now no fuel to filter. our shop is good to us and if they find its something easy they will tell us.

thank you again for all your input!!!!
