Default Help identifiying a part?

1983 Chevy S10 2.8L v6 with a 4 speed manual. It's all stock.

I won't lie, it's not my pickup, it belongs to my buddy who just recently bought it for $400. It's in really good running order except for 2 things. The power steering seems to eat the fluid. There does not seem to be any signs of a leak even when the wheel is turning, but it will go empty in a few days.

The major problem is there's a pretty serious oil leak, I can see it and put my hand on the part, but I don't know what it is. I do know it's right above the coolant return line to the engine on the driver's side. It almost reminds me of an EGR the way it looks, and it's got a weep hole that seems to spray oil out of it.

I can't get it inspected with the amount of oil it's leaking/spraying out.

Bottom line, I own a F........ yeah... one of those... not too happy about it either and I'm trying to work on a chevy. lol

Are they known for leaking from the gasket between the pump and the block? Because that seems to be where it's leaking from.

Also, is there anything I need to know when taking it off?

Oh and I doubt it, but as I said I don't know much about this engine. Is it normal for it to spray liquid out of the weep hole?

Thank you very much. That about answers what I need to know. Well.. I would like to know one more thing, is there a consequence if the push rod does fallout or can I just put it back in there and install the new pump?

Cool, I told him last night to go get the part. I even gave him a picture as a reference and a part #. I hope to see it up and running, it'll be a good little project truck.

Thanks a lot for the help, it was a PITA to take off but a snap to put back on. It runs like a champ now, time to get it inspected and hand it over to my friend.
