I have a 97' Blazer and the transmissions not shifting right it is taking off in 2nd gear, but its not going into any gears but 2nd and 3rd. The key also will not come out when the transmission is not working properly the ignition will not go into lock. But when it is shifting properly the key will come out. Can anyone tell me what is going on??

 

With the key not coming out when the transmission is not working properly leads me to think that there is a linkage problem. Possibly something is loose so that sometimes it goes into gear properly and sometimes it doesn't.
