ZR2 problems
I have a 02' S10 zr2 that is having some issues. I was wondering if anyone would share some thoughts and ideas. First, my heat will not work just idling. It seems the only time it will work is when going up a hill. As soon as I flatten out or go downhill, it blows cold air. Second, no matter where i have the fan set(feet, face, defrost, etc), going uphill, it will always switch to face. Any ideas? thanks guys

ONLY DO THIS WITH THE ENGINE COLD!!!!
It sounds like you're low on coolant, check the level in the reservoir cold and if that is good remove the rad cap and see if it's full too. If it looks full, you may have an air lock in the cooling system.
When going up hill the coolant is being forced via gravity back to the heater core, and because it is up high, the coolant drains out on flat roads back to the engine.
