Default Rear Axle Compatibility

Hello All, I need to replace the rear axle on my 95' 1/2 Suburban and my question is - what year axles are compatible and are some years better than others? I'm not finding any 95' axles in my area.

Thanks

any axle out of a 88-95 chevy 1500 2wd, should work. Whether its out of a truck, Tahoe or Suburban.

Are you talking about the axle shafts or the whole rear end? Any wrecking yard should have an interchange book to confirm the earlier response. If you need to replace the housing then you are more limited do to coil spring vs leaf spring applications.

What rearends ran coils? I'm just curious. The only Chevy truck I've seen with coils was a 69 C10. I'm thinking from 74 on it was all leaf rear springs. You may be learning me something. I don't think I've ever seen a Burb with rear coils

1500 Tahoes for sure have coils not sure on the burb though. I frequent a couple of camping forums and that is a common topic regarding how the coil suspension handles the towing relative to the 2500 with leaf springs. Night and day according to those who have had both.
