Dose anybody know of ANY COMMON PROBLEM with the 2004 6.0l gas I bought a 2500hd to pull my 5th wheel and I was wondering what the general consensus was on these engines??

I have a 2004 with a 6.0L and the only problems I have are that it is a under powered and really bad on gas mileage. I get 11 to 13 MPG depending on if I run the heat or air conditioning-11 with/ 13 without and that is with a truck cap and a K&N CAI - hauling nothing. I also have 3.73 gears (possibly why it feels under powered). Mine's a crew cab 4x4.

i have an 2006 2500hd extended cab long box 4x4 6.0L with 4l80E, 4.11 rear end. The power feels better than a first gen duramax (but not a second generation). the power is awesome. the gas mileage pretty good for a 6000lb 4x4.

Never had a engine problem and its got 230 000km, but rebuilt the trans.

Best mileage I got is 19.5mpg (imperial gallon) on the highway doing 120km/hr. Worst I got was 12.2 mpg pulling a 4000 pound trailer through the hills on northern ontario. never done city mpg calculations.

not a fan of cold air intakes or performance filters as most aren't completely enclosed from engine heat and the filters don't keep dirt off the maf sensor or wet filters put oil on the maf wire.

I got a 04 6.0 with 85k miles. Replaced the water pump and starter already. New cluster in the dash. I never tow anything and have the 2500 crew cab 4wd LT. Lifted 6" running 35" tires. I also get around 12-14 mpg. I plan on some 4.11 gears and a tune. I run a K&N with stock exhaust. But plan on running true duels when the stock one falls off. Shouldn't be too long now. The only issue I am currently having is the 4wd likes to engage itself and when I want to use it sometimes it wont engage. Did some reading and could be a couple of things.
