Default 99 slvdo When do you throw in the towel?

I've replaced the battery and the alternator which I'm still not convinced it was necessary as same issue is occurring. Basically, it runs fine then for no reason quits while running, after sitting half a day or overnight, starts & runs again for awhile. They suspect a fuel pump needs to be replaced & just guessing it will be spendy?

PS (I also have a Buick that needs a rebuilt tranny)

What would you do?

I've got a rule: Never pick up a wrench until you know EXACTLY what is wrong.

Why would you take your vehicle to someone who just takes a guess and splends your money unwisely?

Is your Check engine on? If so what does it say?

Replace the fuel pump. If you have the tools do it yourself.

Also to note. The fuel pump is installed into the gas tank from the top. These fuel pumps need at least a quarter tank of gas in the tank to keep them cool. They will fail prematurely if you keep low fuel level in the gas tank and keep driving it that way.

Ironically, whenever its been brought in it works fine and they couldn't get to it right away when it was towed in so couldn't fix what wasn't broke.... seems to be making a liar out of me since post
