Default Is an Airtex fuel pump any good?

Fuel pump finally died in(1999 silverado) truck. Being that theres 8 inches of snow on the ground, and a full 30 gallon tank I had a garage do the work.(I hate anyone doing work on it) The work was done fast and seemed good, but they got real irritated when I asked about the brand of pump. He told me it was an Airtex. I havent seen any good reviews on them. Does anybody know if there any good. I feel like im driving around with a time bomb.

I would be wary of any repair shop that gets irritated when you ask questions such as yours. I have always been told airtex is cheap because you will be buying plenty of them. They, from what I've heard, usually last about 6 months to a year before they go. I have a friend who owns a 1996 chevy pickup and he put three airtex pumps in it before he "ponied up" and bought a ac delco pump. There have been a few that have worked fine, but the majority are junk. AC Delco and Delphi are the way to go. The name is pretty much the only difference between delphi and ac delco. If you are unlucky and have to replace the fuel pump again, look at rockauto dot com. They usually have ac delco and delphi fuel pumps for a much much lower price than your local dealers or parts stores.

Goodluck, maybe your airtex is one of the good ones.

Default Airtex Fuel pump

I have a 92 Chevy Blazer and put an airtex pump in it last week, just to turn around and put another one in it today and have the 2nd one be crap also. I would avoid them. Sucks that I have to change it again but I am going factory pump this time.
