Default Change OIL LIGHT came on. Oil level is fine???

Ihad my OIL changed about 2 weeks ago at the new Firestone place here in town.
They use a oil called Kendall I think it is.

Ever since I owned it I have got it changed at Wall Mart and had them put in Castrol 10W-30

Last week the Change Oil light came on. I check my oil and it is fine at the right level.
Could it be a different OIL makes it do this??

What do you THINK?

most likely they didnt reset the oil life monitoring system. if you dont have steering wheel controls, turn the key to the run position and press the gas pedal 3 times quickly, the dic should display oil life reset for about 10 secs.

Try resetting it again.
The Oil Life Monitor System does not actually sample the quality or quantity of oil in the pan, it simply uses a predetermined schedule based on engine revolutions and engine temperature, but not on mileage.

I turn on the key/do not start. I mash the gas three times. Cut OFF then start?

What model is your truck? 2000?
Press gas twice, third time hold it down until you hear a chime or see the message center/indicator light blink. If that doesn't work, take it backto the Firestone place and see if they can do anything about it.

how many miles on truck, does it have a tired engine?

what type oil filter did they install, could be a problem with compression, blowby, or the filter is not providing correct resistance, who knows.

would be great if you could get a direct connect oil pressure gauge installed. Thatis the only way to know for sure the oilpressure of your engine.

Ilike to have oil, coolant and amp gauges all direct connectin addition to factory gauges.
Do not trustohms, resistance type gauges: example fuel gauge, first half of tank takes awhile to use, last half goes fast, just gauge getting falsereading.
