Default Door Handle/Mechanism Repair

I have an extended cab with what I call the backward doors. Basically, alot of things that are made of plastic on my 2000 model are broken (i.e. trunk latch, both of the plastic handles for the backwards doors that are designed to access from outside the vehicle, and now one of the handles designed for accessing from inside the vehicle on the driver's side backseat, so now I'm down to only one handle out of 4 working for my back doors. Pretty soon I will be crawling over seats. The inside handle did not break, it just does not activate the latch anymore.

Does anyone have any pointers, procedures, etc. that would be helpful on my trying this myself rather than paying someone several hundred dollars to do it for me? Like do I buy the parts new, go to a junk yard? I would almost be scared junk yard parts of this sort might be on their last leg too.

Thanks.

I believe it's the new body style.

if you have a 5.3 its new 5.7 old bs, 4.8 could be either
the door handles that are in the b-pillar in the door are cheap $25 each if you buy aftermarket.

when opening from the outside using the b-pillar handle, you must push in on the door first or they stress and eventually break. same thing with the tailgate...push in on the tailgate, then pull the handle. its designed to have some preload so it doesn't rattle....that's how latches work.

try fixing the b-pillar handles first as it may fix the inside one also. the door is designed so the inside handles don't work until the front door opens... the pillar handle must actuate for the inners to work. remove the pillar handle and you will probably see a lever or linkage that must move to allow the inner handles to open the door.
