Default Gas/m problem

Hi. I just serviced my truck and put SPECTRA air filter and E3 spark plugs. I thought that will give me couple of more miles per gallon, but it didn't. My truck does 15m per gallon!!!!!????? I don't burn rubber or make doughnuts. No racing. I don't excelerate like its burning under my feet. Its a 6 cylinder, 2001, 1500. For 90% of time truck is empty (no load in the back). What should i do?
Thanks for reading.

Replace the 02 sensor that is in the exhaust. It is very common for these to go bad and clean your MAF or MAPS. What happens is that if one of these is bad/dirty, it cannot report the right information to the ECU and then in return the ECU runs your engine REALLY rich and then you get terrible gas millage.

If you get a code, you should read it as it might lead you to a problem area. Autozone or Advance can read it for free and also reset it. But if problem is not corrected, the light will come back.

Unless you know someone who owns one, i think its not worth the money. With simple things like building your own exhaust, checking sensors and whatknot, you can increase mileage 1-4mpg from stock, but first you have to get to stock. Make sure your tranny isnt slipping when it is in overdrive. And see if that sensor needs to be replaced. Sometimes, some cars have more than one. I know a dinky camry has like 3.

i have a 95 4.3 Vortec v6 and i get right at 25. What the heck guys. Why so bad? I mean, mines a 5spd if that makes any difference. 3:23 gearing. Too bad im sawpping it out for a flat-tappet carb'd 350. Then I will say hello to 18 mpg. Atleast its supercharged.
