Default HELP no dashlights

I have a 1998 GMC 1500 and the dashlights are not working I have taillights and running lights. The only light that works is the lights behind the dimmer switch and headlight switch and they will dim using the dimmer switch. I have no lights behind my tach, speedometer, and heat and a/c controls. I have checked the fuses and bulbs any other ideals thanks.

They almost always say "checked the fuses and bulbs." Which fuses and bulbs did you check? Was this a gradual thing (bulbs going out one at a time) or all at once? How long has it been going on? Anything aftermarket, electrically?

You most likely have a electrical short out or it may be a fuse.

I have "checked every fuse in the fuse box under the hood and driver side fuse panal checked all the bulbs behind the cluster and heat and a/c controls." I dont now how long its been like this I just bought the truck. It does have a aftermarket cd player that was in the truck when i bought it.

In that I/P fuse block (driver side), fuse #14 is upstream of the instrument illumination. With key on, parking lamps on, and dimmer control turned up, see what kind of voltage is present at that junction with a digital multimeter (or analog VOM, if you prefer). There should be two holes on the fuse for probing. Poke the red probe into the hole (or wrap a paper clip onto the end of the red probe and then poke the paper clip in). The black probe, of course, should be touching a suitable chassis grounding point. Hopefully I'm making sense to you.
