I have a '05 Z71 with the 5.3L and was looking at getting a performance tuner. Superchips seems to be the popular one-are these really worth the money and which one is best for the silverado-thanks.

Custom tune by Neslon Performance is the best way to go. if your still looking for a handheld, then the Diablo Predator is the best. stay away from superchips and hypertech. they are both junk. good luck

I've heard good things about wait4me but cant say for sure as I haven't used him.
Alot of people I know speak highly of hypertech but I am looking also so can't comment there either.
Obviously bad2006z71has had some bad personal experience with them.
I was actually looking at the Hypetech extreme energy but am planning on an air cleaner system before I take the performance chip or tuner plunge.

Yea ive had both the Max Energy and the PP3 by hypertech, they are a waste of money. Superchips ive heard was good for deisels but not gas motors. Diablo or custom tune is the only way to go. as for air cleaners i have the K&N intake and have been very happy with it.

I have the superchips max micro tuner and it works great. Has 4 different level of adjustment. I use the performance towing and it runs great. The best thing about a handheld is you can always uninstall it without sending the PCM to someone to put it back. Take 5 minutes to uninstall. Just a personal preference.

I bought the Hypertech Max Energy and it did what it claimed to do. I am getting a little better gas mileage and the performance was noticeably increased. They are pricey at $379, but they are worth it.
