04 4.8L shutting off issues
Good morning my names Brad and this is my first time on this forum. I have been having some pretty "goofy" issues with my 04 Silverado 1500 4.8L. It has about 190,000 miles. Here's a list of my issues.
1. The truck will shut off randomly. Both at highway speeds and at slower speed like when driving through parking lots. This only happens once and a great while. When is does shut off the display says "Battery Not Charging"
2. When the truck shuts off it wont restart without me disconnecting the negative battery terminal.
3. When the truck is under a load at low RPMs and low speed the truck seems to decline in power, making the head lights and dash lights dim until the RPMs go up.
4. Will not pass state emission tests because the OBD-II drive cycle monitors will not set. No matter what is done to get them to set.
5. A few years back I had a new gauge cluster installed and the dealership could only program the new one after unplugging the aftermarket radio that was installed.
6. Every time I put the key in the start/on position my Oil Life resets to 100%
7. The check engine light does not come when there is an issue. To check this I disconnected the MAF and drove down the road for about 15 minutes. The check engine light never came on even though a code was thrown. I had a Tech II scanner hooked up during my test drive that gave me the MAF code. But once you turn the key off no codes are stored.
I'm having a new PCM pushed on me and just would like some feed back before I go out and spend money. Any help and suggest would be awesome. I also replaced my throttle body and idle air control actuator at about 100,000 after other shutting off issues. Once I did this I had no other issues till I put an aftermarket radio installed. After my gauge cluster nightmare I put the stock radio back in but continue to have issues. Thanks for the input.
