Default 1968 Chevy Pickup

Does anyone know if the rear axel/rear end in the 1968 Pickup for the 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder were the same? I'm looking at buying a pickup that came from the factory as a 6 cylinder and has been changed over to a 350 V8. Also, any other issues I should be concerned about?
