Hello,

My son's 1991 Chevy Silverado's master brake cylinder is leaking. There are two seperate reservoirs. It is the one towards the front of the truck. Does one of these reservoirs feed the front wheels and one the back? We don't see any leaking underneath the master cylinder or booster. Just trying to figure out the quickest way to identify the leak. Thanks.

 

Check your brake lines first,then calibers if you do not see any drips or spots on the ground underneath the truck.If the fluid is dropping it has to be going somewhere.

 

That makes sense. Thanks. I just figured one of the reservoirs was for front and one was for back but couldn't find any documentation confirming this.

A typical master cylinder is actually two completely separate master cylinders in one housing, each handling two wheels.

 

Could see fluid dripping on inside of right rear tire. Pulled wheel and brake drum cover, could see dripping from wheel cylinder. Replaced same for less than 20 bucks and bled the brakes and good to go. Thanks.
