1993 c2500 slave cylinder problem
Hello All,
I have a 1993 c2500 6.5l turbo diesel (387,000 miles) with a 5 speed manual tranny. In 12/07, I had a new Luk clutch and pressure plate installed. This was the first time the clutch had been replaced. They replaced the slave cylinderwith a Lifetime warranty Autozone because it was leaking. Since then I have had to replace the slave cylinder once a month either because the o-ring at the tube connection blew, or the flat gasket between the slave and the mount plate would blow out. I have replaced the fluid (Prestone dot-3) and collected the old fluid while bleeding to check for moisture and did not see any indication of water.
Afterbleeding the slave, one of two things will happen, (1) the clutch will work fine for maybe a week and then it will just quit disengaging the clutch. I then either roll start it or start it in gear for a few days and the clutch will begin working again. Or (2) after a few days either the o-ring or the front gasket will blow.
I am on my way to buy a new master cylinder and slave cylinder from a different parts store and replace both.
Does anyone have an idea why this would be occuring?
Thanks to every one for their suggestions.
