Default 2000 Silverado C1500 problem.

Hey guys, I am new here, but not new to the car world. I picked up a 2000 C1500 with 73000 miles on it a lil over a month ago and after i got it home i noticed that the drivers side was and inch lower then the passenger side. So i went to the auto parts store and asked to see what new leaf springs and front springs would be cause i thought that may be the problem.Well they found a set of oe replacemt springs that were made to fix the problem of the oem body sitting an inch lower on divers side so i got thinking this was a problem that started in the factory. Can anyone shed some light on this. Is it a problem that happend when GM did the frame and the die/jig got set off, or is it all suspension. I want to get this fixed by next summer so i can get the truck looking nice so i can pull my 92 mazda protege competition car to compettions and have two nice looking rides. haha

Thanks alot guys

Hey Soberbills,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

It's called "Silverado Lean".

Supposedly caused by gas tank, driver, etc all being on left hand side of truck uncompensated by the factory suspension.
If it's any comfort, when you load your bed with about 700-1500 lbs., it straightens it right out.

DNK if there's much you can do to correct it without throwing the rest of the suspension out of whack.

O M G, my truck leans a little to the left, AND it's not "Trail Rated"...

... what am I going to do?

ok, well, i was thinking about doing new springs up front and i'm wanting tow bags in back. so idk, when i pulled a 5000 pound trailer to omaha nebraska it did level out. so thats true. I should just leave it be then?

You could try loading stuff on the other side of the bed a little more heavily.

Seems strange they haven't fixed this at the manufacturer's level after all this time.

Just wait till you try to get at your spare tire!
