Default 2005 Silverado 1500

I have a 2005 silverado 1500. For some reason it feels like the truck jumps into first gear, it is a really hard shift, but then the rest of the shifts are all smooth. Not sure what could be wrong, but cant imagine its very good. Ideas???

I haven't done it since I owned the truck so honestly no idea. First is the only gear it slams into though.

Yeah I would go ahead and get that transmission fluid and filter changed just for peace of mind depending on how many miles you got on her, but I will tell you my buddies dad has 05 z71 and Ive said do him dang this truck shifts hard from 1st to 2nd and the rest are smooth as can be. I want to ask you though when you say it jumps into first gear do you mean say reverse to drive or did you mean 1st to 2nd gear.

im at 86,000 miles right now. it slams from first into second, and the rest of the gears are all smooth. when you go into reverse its pretty load and makes a loud clunking noise. a little concerned but the truck still drives fine. ill def. do a tranny flush and new fluid and filter and see what that does.

clunk is probably the rear end, chevy famous for having a little play in rear end. Nothing to worry about and like i said his slams pretty good from first to second.
