Default 2005 Silverado Rough Riding

Hi. I have a 2005 Silverado Crew Cab that is the roughest riding truck I think I've ever had. It was new to me about 6 months ago - so not sure how long it's been this way. It's been rough since I've had it. My question is - should I just replace the shocks? It's a little scary sometimes, because if I hit a bump going over 50 or so the truck will jump and feels as if it could bounce sideways on me. It's made my blood pressure jump a time or two!!

Other than that - great truck. I'm really enjoying it. I just didn't want to simply replace the shocks if that was not the likely culprit.

FYI, it has about 46,000 miles on it.

Thank you!

Do you get a lot of after-bounce? Jump on your bumper...does it recover right away or keep bouncing before is settles down? If so, shocks are needed.

if your shocks are good try to find out what shocks they are and what series. the previous owner many have put a too beefy of a shock on it making it ride like a log wagon.

Not that I've noticed. I will try the bounce test this evening and will reply back.

They are stock. This was actually my father's truck (he bought it new) and I'm sure he never changed them.

Thanks!
