Yes i know this isnt a new subject on here, i want to drop a v8 into my go-cart of a truck (single cab short bed 06 chevy vortec v6..).. i wanna know everything i need to get because i have access to a 5.3 donor truck and a 4.8 donor truck.. both come with the brain parts and wiring harnesses for the motors.. what all do i need to make this conversion.. or can someone point me in the right direction of another thread that goes over this?

sweet, thanx rubrhammer... that still leaves a few questions though, with the exeptions of adding some fuel line and minor stuff like that, if i have a donor truck with the 5.3 in it with all the electrical including then for lack of better term its pretty much plug n' play??

 

i have little to no knowledge about the new trucks, but id have to say no to plug and play. new trucks i believe are tuned a certain way. but like i said, i have little knowledge about the new trucks.

 

With the donor truck you will have what you need. More like remove and replace than plug and play.
Gary has a good point on the swap being emissions compatible. We in NY state are in almost as bad a situation that way as California motorists are. OUr inspection stations don't even pass or fail the vehicles, they are linked via computer and phone line to Albany and their computer reads the OBD.

im here in texas and as far as i know the emissions testing is pretty lax, we have some guys down here where im at that pass people with a little extra money. i think from what ive been reading from other people that i can get my pcm flashed over to the v8 settings, i think it costs somewhere in the ball park of 200 bucks..
