2009 standard differential??
Hi, Im looking into new silverados. Specifically the 2wd, 4.3V6. The one I found does not have the locking diff option which I'd really like to have. But if I can't find one then I'm going to look into putting an aftermarket (eaton, detroit locker, powertrac, etc) one in. My question is what the diff. size and spline count is on new chevys? Do they still use the same 10 bolt they used to? I'm looking at the standard GU5 (3.23) ratio. I really appreciate any help!
Welcome to the Chevy Forums, rsattler26,
It's generally accepted dogma that one should wait till the new vehicle warranty expires before making any changes which would void said same. So if you're going new, you'd be better protected if you got the equipment you want at the time of purchase.
The Z71- model usually has a locking rear diff, but I'd be certain to verify that before purchasing...

Yes rivereye, I am aware of new vehicle warranty procedures (I work at West Herr Saturn), but with the CARS program, it's basically impossible to find the truck I want. I am getting a great deal because I work here, so I must buy my truck from here. But I appreciate the help! If anyone happens to know the spline count that would be great. Thanks again.
