3/4 ton??
I have heard that a mid 90's (the truck in question is a 1994) 3/4 ton with the 6 lug wheels is just a glorified 1/2 ton. Is this true? Is it just a half ton with 3/4 suspension? Or is the tranny/rear end different?? What is the difference, if any?? I really have no idea and can find nothing anywhere else on the internet.
i am not sure, i have the light duty 3/4 ton, it has the 8 lug wheels.
big difference i see is the back brake drums and rear spring pack, much larger on the 3/4.
the heavy duty 3/4 ton and 1 ton single rear wheel have a different rear hub, i believe its called a floating axle.
rear hub sticks through wheel where mywheel looks like a 1/2 ton on drum.
I have seen a truck ad for a heavy duty 1/2 ton, but again look at hubs and springs packs.
