4WD Selector

4WD Selector
Currently have a 2004 extended cab Z71 with the push button 4WD selector. I have been getting a "Service 4WD" warning popping up, in which I have no lights on my 4WD panel. I had this happen before, 3-4 years ago, and I shut my truck off, turned it back on, and it started working again. Now when I do this, it still doesn't come back on. Even though it's summer here in MO, I still hate to be without 4WD. Does anyone have any ideas? Does the selector panel need to be replaced? If it just requires taking the front panel off and unhooking it, I could probably do it myself.

I have the same issue in my 04. I have done a search and came up with both the actuator and or the switch on the dash being the issue. I have not fixed it yet. Might be doing it this week as I keep getting the red neutral light periodically. I plan on a new dash switch first from a junk yard and will go from there.

I have the same problem, it mainly comes on when going over rough road. I was informed that it is mostly to be the comp. that is mounted to the transfer case. info came from a Chev Tech and then 1.5hr to relearn the comp to the truck.

Went out and checked it after I got home from work, and everything is good now. I'll watch it and if it happens again, I'll just go ahead and put a new one in. Now I have to take it to the dealer to get the HVAC looked at. Everything they describe in the recall, I have. Funny how all this happens at once.

Before I went home and checked mine yesterday, I searched around on the interent for this exact answer. I read through gmpartsdirect.com it is $40 or $50. I contacted a buddy of mine at a dealership, and he quoted me $95 shipped to me. One page I found on the internet said you need to get the part number off your current one, and enter it on that gmparts website to be sure you get the correct one. I looked around on there, and it wouldn't let me search without a part number, which I did not have at the time, so I can't give you an exact answer as to what it would cost through there, but I have to assume it's right around that $50 price.
