Default 69' 350 block for a 96' 5.7 vortec?

Hello yet again!

My pick-up has been giving me fits (see my other threads). It finally threw a rod, which was actually a good thing, because now I'm 100% sure whats wrong with it HAHA

OK anyway, I found a recently built 69' 350 block on craigslist. I was wondering if the blocks would swap to my 96' truck. I'm going to have my heads rebuilt, and put them on the older block (if they'll fit) and then the intake should fit....

How about all the OBD II stuff? knock sensor? crank sensor?

Thanks you guys for your help. Its been very appreciated!!

Mark

the head alignment pins might be different, otherwise heads should bolt on. crankshaft sensor i believe is mounted by bracket to oil pan ( i might be off tho), knock sensor is a good question. you'd have to use a block off plate for the fuel pump. i

Thank you,

I've read of many hot rod guys putting vortec heads on their older blocks. I'm sure that won't be a problem. I'm more concerned about all the OBD II emissions stuff.

Guess I'll find out HAHA

Thanks again,
Mark

most of the sensors are on the intake. the knock sensor may be something you have to drill a hole for, maybe not. usually on side of block. rodders put the vortecs on alot, generally with carb tho. but the swap you want is pretty common too. the knock sensor may be the biggest obstacle, which is easy to solve.
